What is reiki?

The type of reiki we offer at Hypnotonic Yorkshire is “Usui” reiki which is an original method of healing developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century.

The word reiki comes from the Japanese words “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life energy) and is a type of energy healing.

Reiki is an ancient, holistic energy healing technique that helps to align the body’s natural energetic points (Chakras) to allow the “life force energy” to flow.  It is said to transfer the universal energy from through the practitioner’s hands to the client.  This not only promotes relaxation and stress reduction but also promotes healing within the mind and body, particularly helping to remove any blockages or stagnant energy.

What can it help with?

Reiki can aid in relaxation and assist the body’s natural healing processes.  It can also help develop emotional, mental and physical well-being by inducing a deep relaxation.  Reiki helps to relieve emotional stress and improve overall well-being. Reiki can also help with physical healing, significantly reducing pain and improving illnesses.

How does it work?

After a brief consultation, the client lays fully clothed on a treatment bed, covered by a blanket with relaxing music playing.

A reiki session usually lasts 60 minutes and involves the reiki practitioner placing their hands lightly on specific areas of the client’s head, limbs and torso using different hand shapes. If there is a specific injury or pain the hands may be held above this area.  During this time, the practitioner’s hands may become warm and tingly. The client just relaxes and allows the healing to take place.

After the session you will be given a glass of water and a written feedback sheet to take away with next steps to encourage your healing further.

What’s the cost?

A 60-minute one to one reiki session is £40.  This includes a consultation and advice following your session.
